Walt Disney World's New Guardians of the Galaxy Roller Coaster Opens today in EPCOT!
Walt Disney World's newest attraction opened today. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is a roller coaster located in EPCOT. According to Disney, " This family- thrill attraction features the first ever reverse- launch on a Disney coaster and is one of the largest fully-enclosed coasters in the world! Guest must be 42in or taller to ride and it is listed as a dark thrill ride suitable for tweens, teens and adults. Early guest reviews of the ride have noted that some individuals have suffered from motion sickness after riding this attraction. If you are prone to motion sickness we suggest watching and reading some reviews of this attraction prior to riding as to not ruin your day at Disney.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind will NOT have a standby line at this time (unknown if it will in the future). Instead the line is accessed via a virtual queue in the My Disney Experience app. When guests secure a spot in the virtual queue they will get assigned to a boarding group (return time) to join the equivalent of a standby line during their return time window. Based on other attractions that also use virtual queues it is expected that the ride will reach capacity within seconds of opening each day. The free virtual queue will open at 7am and again at 1pm. You will NOT need to be in the park at 7am to join the first queue, but you will need to be in EPCOT to join the 1pm virtual queue. During Extended Evening Hours (available to guests staying in Deluxe and participating hotels), the virtual queue will open at 6pm and you do NOT need to be in EPCOT to join the queue.
Guests can also purchase an Individual Lighting Lane to try and ride the attraction. Lighting Lane will be available to purchase for this attraction. The ability to purchase Lighting Lane may also reach capacity. For Memorial Day weekend, May 27 through May 30, the lighting Lane price will be $17 per person and will drop to $14 per person May 31st.
